You've seen the signs ALL over NYC (if you live here that is), and even if you don't, NO ONE across the US has been unaware of the coming of London's own TopShop. Blogs, fashion publications, newspapers, and the lot, have all been anticipating its arrival, and on April 2nd, our dreams came true. People began lining up from 6am for the 11am opening. When I entered the fashion haven (and luckily for me, I didn't have to wait on the ridiculously long line), I understood what all the hype was about. Apart from the clothing being a girls dream, TopShop invited its patrons to share in complimentary beauty treatments, special guest DJs, tips from style advisors , free limited edition t-shirts, and the list goes on. It was everything our little American hearts had hoped for. What on earth did we ever do without it?!

Last night I hit up Keri Hilson's album release party @ the Pink Elephant. And let me tell you....it was crazy. From the line outside, to the crowded dance floor. But the sad part is that ALL to those people really thought they were getting in. Like, if they only knew how small it was up in that bitch, they would have saved themselves the disappointment, and gone on home. Anywho, it was live. DJ D-Nice was killin it on the turntables. Akon was in the building , as well as Ron Brownz, Tyson Beford, Melyssa Ford and wanna be celebrities from Harlem Heights. All in all, it was a festive evening, and Miss Keri deserved to celebrate. Its been a loooooong time comin.

I was forwarded to a certain blog recently, and there was a post where the title read: "Jonte is Beyonce's Choreographer". Now, as much as I LUV Jonte (I am his biggest fan.....stalked him on 14th btwn 5th and broadway), this is not quite accurate. Jonte WAS Beyonce's choreographer! He did most of the choreography on her last album and tour (the beyonce expericence) for notable favorites such as Freakum Dress, Get Me Bodied ("snap inna circle three times"....I kno you remembah) and basically the entire video montage she came out with. However, so far JaQuel Knight has done all current choreography of Bey's which is only Single Ladies. So, I guess at this point, you would have to say that he (JaQuel Knight, that is) is her choreographer until further notice....or at least until the next single comes out and shes gyrating and holding ponytails up in the air...ganking otha ppls routines (thats another post for another day).

So, boys and girls, this is a lesson to all: when you are putting up post where other poeple are going to be reading your shyt, you might wanna have legitimate info (SR). Just a thought.

Complex magazine delivered 3...actually, 4 covers for their August issue. However, I would say that only two of them are worth coping. The N.E.R.D cover and the Lupe cover! Thats it! They ACTUALLY deserve to be featured on the cover of magazines, seeing as they are ACTUALLY doing something relevant and changing the face of music. Shyt, they're workin! And wat the hell is Cassie's no talent havin ass doin, besides tryin to milk her non-existent career?! I could at least give her a couple of props if she was in the studio or sumthin, workin on some tracks, rather than f*ckin for 'em. But shes not...shes makin appearances n shyt like she's dropped sumthin in the last 2 years. The point is, she shouldn't be on the cover of ANY magazine unless its entitled "Untalented Weekly" or "Irrelevant Today". Arguably the most powerful creative force to emerge from Zimbabwe in the last three decades, Mtukudzi carefully balances compelling rhythms and accessible melodies with insightful lyrics, building a vast body of work that is politically and socially relevant, yet entertaining and accessible to a worldwide audience.

Mtukudzi is such a musical force that his name has become synonymous with his style, and "Tuku music" has evolved into something quite distinct from any other Zimbabwean music. Welcome back, Welcome back...that's welcome to everyone out there and, to myself, seeing as I haven't reported in just about 2months( its hard for me to believe too)...Its been too long!

Soooo, I'm sure u all want to kno where I've been allll this time...well, like most good 'ol Americans I was "workin" hard, (better known as slavin), @ my "job", (better known as the plantation). But, no worries, I have since been FREED from the whip that stung my back. And I DO NOT plan to return. From now on, my time will be dedicated to the things that will propel me in sumthin bigger than even I'd be able to control....ok, maybe not that big, but ya'll get the point.
Since my last post, I've been to many places, seen plenty of everything, heard all of sumthin and tasted just about anything that my palate has been willin to accept. However, I never got around to postin NETHING...shame!!! But no worries, I thot that it wud be beneficial for everyone if I did a "brief" (and I do mean brief) overview of all things blogworthy that have happened since I last posted, so here goes:

-Wale & Blu @ S.O.B's/ Andy Suzuki & Kozza Babumba w/ Becca De Sa & Aviad Sunshine (July 13th).....Blu was even better than the day before (@ the BHHF), maybe because it was a smaller, more intimate venue. I can't tell you how Wale's performance was cuz i skipped it to hit up the Andy Suzuki show that was happening simultaneously. And it was well worth missing Wale for. Once again, the show was HOT! The band was in FULL effect and had everyone hootin and hollerin.

- Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival (July 12th)......This was actually something that i fell up on. I happened to be in NY on a mini vaca and the BK Hip-Hop Fes happened to be goin on while i was in town, so me and my cuz decided to hit it up. Such a dope show. I loved the atmosphere...you could just tell that hip-hop was very much alive, especially with the turnout, and not to mention the line of performers which included: KRS One, DJ Premier, Buckshot, Blu & Exile, Mickey Factz, 88-Keys, J.Period, Fresh Daily, Zaki Ibrahim, Homeboy Sandman and Special Guests! - Andy Suzuki & Kozza Babumba w/Aviad Sunshine on Bass (June 22nd).....At this point, it had been a while since i'd been to an Andy Suzuki show, so i didnt really kno wat to expect. Well, let me tell you, i was NOT prepared for wat came. I mean, between new songs, new bass player, new free stylin.....just newness in general, it was off the chain. I was blown away...and im not just sayin this because i kno these ppl personally, they really delivered an amazing performance. -Boston Gay Pride Parade(June 14th)...Such a colorful and wonderful event. U kno i love me some queens, they're the best. Kat DeLuna and Kimberly Locke graced the stage too. Kat: cute lil performance...Kim: not so much!

-Karmaloop Re-Launch Partee (June 13th)....For those of you who don't kno, Karmaloop's flagship store (located in Boston, by the way) was closed for construction for quite some time. So, to mark its reopening, they had a launch party where only Boston's elite were invited......ok maybe not....u just had to kno somebody, that knew somebody, that freaked somebody....and i happened to kno a body...u fell me?! Anywho, it was a hit. Great crowd of people, great atmosphere, great location and the lot. Plus, they had an after after party which is very uncommon for the Bean. -Pre Boston Pride 2008 Mini Ball (June 7th)...I went to my second Ball (it was a mini) ever (the first was last year, before i started blogging) and it was O-VAH!! Honeeeeeee, them girls were fierceeee. I have pics, but they won't do justice to wat was goin on....i have some raw footage that I'll post once i get them from my source. So, stay tuned....believe me, its worth it

-Lupe Fiasco @ S.O.B's (May 14th)......I was blown away! Lupe was so hype and kept the audience wanting more. I developed a new found respect for Mr. Fiasco. He really delivered an amazing show. Oh, and his crew was soooo on point. (Big up to Matthew Santos for bein such a cool dude).

-Glow in the Dark Concert (May 13th)......BANANAS! Kanye took it us on a journey through Graduation (his third LP) and beyond...we were not ready for the GREATNESS!!! Lupe made a huge impression on every1 with his performance quality, N.E.R.D rocked the house with their SPAZ muzik...and Rihanna looked great (Chris Brown came out & did the remix to Umbrella with her, where they awkwardly performed at separate sides of the stage, i figured so as not to add any more fuel to the flame). -Gentlemen, u R NOT allowed to rock bell-bottoms, period

-Also, men and boyz alike, pleez... invest in a nice (well-tailored) suit or at LEAST, a nice pair of slacks, because the oversized jeans (rolled 20 times) and the cheap wannabe silk shirt with daffy duck all ovah it...ehhmmm, NOT ATTRACTIVE at all. Ur old enuf to know better!

-Lastly, ladies...if u have hair on your chest 4 watever reason, pleez make sure u either nair, shave or pluck...or...wear a gotdam turtleneck, cuz that shit A'INT cute!

Bringin Boston: The Fairytale

Sooo,I kno this post is like 3 weeks late, however I think its necessary that I post it anyway. With that said, I was planning on posting the pics from the fashion show (The Fairytale) that I went to last weekend, but it seems that the computer gods are vexed and have decided to punish me by making the pics (and video) unavailable. Its my fault tho because I shouldnt have uploaded them on my sisters faulty computer. Anywho, long story short, the pictures are gone, so Im goin to have to do an overview of wat I saw and how I felt about it all. If u were there, then u kno wat it was about, and if u werent, well, that is why Im here. Ill do my best by being extremely graphic:

Bianca Golden(from ANTM, cycle 9 aka thats enuf already) was the host of the show and did a good job, except that she couldnt really...TALK! It was a little difficult understanding her between the stammering and 5 year old tone of her voice. And she kept hatin on The Bean (did she kno where she was...I mean, come on) but got set STRAIGHT when a boy from BAA (Boston Arts Academy) had to show her wat the f*ck the deal was (Yeah, Boston served her little NY people who could supposedly dance better than us....psssssssssh). Besides that, she was pretty and had a certain regalness (is that a word?!) to her. Shaving that mess off her head was a good move!

Then there were the actual designs which were nicely crafted...wellllll, at least most of them were.A couple cud have used some "touch-up" tailoring to fit the models better.But overall I was impressed with all the designs and the work put into it all.
Speakin of models...tell me why all the female models were like 5'1?! They were all gorgeous and fierce on the runway, but dam were they bite size. I think about 2 of them were tall. Anywho, the important thing is that they killed it and u cud tell that they put a lot of hardwork and dedication into they're walks and overall presentations.
There were some other odds and ends like the performance by The Movement (which was tremendous), a walk off, best outfit, best hair and others, that I can't really remember because I waited so long to post.But,ce la vie...the important thing is that it was wat it was supposed to be...FIERCE & FABULUSSS!

Sooooooo.....this past weekend, The DunkXchange came to Boston! Yeah...Boston!...and if you call yourself a "Sneakerhead", and you werent present, then u've lost some credibility...if you even had any in the first place. Anywho, it was an THE event to be at this weekend . There was buying, selling and trading of some of the rarest kicks and one of a kind t-shirts...Then there was the live performance by UNI ( rap duo outta LA), whom I had never heard of until then, but became a fan instantly. They were dope (peep the video of their performance). Did I mention the music?! Well, it was on point, and thats probably bcuz it was provided by the one and only Brek.One (peep him on the turntables). Overall, it was sumthin that Boston needed and Im glad to say that I was present. Put the name to a face and peep the pics below. It's Preimere!

Its here....Its FINALLY here! SistahGurlHoneyChiild that is. This has been in the making for quite some time now and this post marks the the official beginning of SistahGurlHoneyChiild.
